Star quilt

I just finished sewing the binding on my Starlight Express quilt.

I won a French General “Le Bouquet Francais”  jelly roll from a Moda blog hop and decided to make this star quilt.  The colors are rose and dusty blues which is suppose to be French inspired.

For those of you not familiar with Moda precuts, a jelly roll is  (40)  2.5” by 44” strips of fabric from a specific line wrapped up like a jelly roll.

I followed a pattern named Starlight Express from the book Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam Lintott.   It is a square quilt that is 76” x 76”.  There are lots of bias cuts which caused the center of the star to be very hard to get the points to match.  I was joking with some of the ladies at work that it needed pasties :-) on the star centers.  Luckily Michelle Graves did a wonderful job quilting it very closely and made the centers lay flat.

Here’s a full view of it, poor Geff had to hold it up for me.
