My friend and quilting buddy Karen Ryan made this gorgeous baby quilt for her niece. Her niece is overseas so she has to mail it soon but I talked her into getting some pictures before she mails it Friday. It is so cute I had to get pictures of it on my blog.
Her niece wanted greys and yellows in the quilt and choose the center fabric. Karen picked out all the coordinating yellow and greys, many of them during a recent quilt shop hop. She did an excellent job with all the yellows, it isn’t easy to get so many complimentary yellows. I really like the combination of the greys and yellows and think I’ll make a quilt with similar colors.
The triangles around the center are called Flying Geese. Lots of points and she got them all spot on (no pun intended). The pattern is Wild Goose Run from Alex Anderson’s book Start Quilting with Alex Anderson.
She had it quilted by Lisa Hevrdeys, a local longarm quilter in Oak Ridge TN. Karen wanted elephants and Lisa did a great job finding a cute elephant pattern for the quilt.
Back of the quilt highlighting all the elephants.
Karen's niece is one lucky expectant mother to get such a thoughtful gift. I’m sure she will cherish it forever.
