Bertie’s Winter Complete

Bertie's Winter

I’ve been working on a wall hanging from Bonnie Sullivan’s pattern Bertie’s Winter although I’ll be glad when winter is over with all the snow we’ve had the last two weeks. This is another kit from Mountain Creek.  It includes flannels that looks like wool named Maywood Woolies.    There was enough flannel in the kit  that I cut out two sets of each of the appliqué pieces so I could give one set to Karen.  I used Heat and Bond Lite to trace the appliqué pattern pieces onto and then adhere to the background before sewing on.  This is a raw edge appliqué pattern and the flannel held up very well without fraying before being appliquéd on.

There are also lots of embellishments on this wall hanging like beads and buttons.  I had a bunch of red buttons which worked well and purchased a few glass beads for the sugar on the cookie and the snow in the snow globe.

Closeup of the “snow” beads.  I matched most of the appliqué thread so well you can barely see it.  I used a brighter green on the scarf because I thought it would make it pop a little more.

My little Tiny dog isn’t feeling well and patiently sat with me while I sewed on the embellishments. I added his name to one of the stars.
