Washboard Remake

DSC_2151

I’m trying to get caught up with some posts. You probably noticed I have been MIA.  I’ve been busy with the holidays and getting my Moda pattern complete.

I needed a cover photo for my Moda Clothespin Bag project but with the weather grey and no leaves on the trees I didn’t want to take pictures on the clothesline outside.   My friend Karen came up with the idea of using a washboard.  My brother still had an old washboard that I bought at an antique store and hung in my laundry room for years.   It was in pretty rough shape and the lettering had faded.

I decided I could add a little brand recognition (ha) so I had Geff cut me an old scrap piece of beadboard the same size as the top. I printed my logo sized to fit then traced it onto the board using wax-free tracing paper designed for sewing (how ironic).

Then I used a permanent black and yellow Sharpie to fill it in.  I used some paste wax with just a little chestnut stain to give it a little aging.  I left the paint dripping on the board because it makes it match the bottom of the washboard.

It fits right in the washboard but can easily be removed.   I like it in the feature photo, what do you think?  Moda is supposed to post it January 11th, nothing like waiting until the last minute to get finished…
