Flirt - A 10 Minute Block

10 minute block

I was going to do a ‘Year of Quilts in Review’ post when I  remembered a few quilts you haven’t seen from 2014.  This quilt is a faux cathedral pattern named the 10 minute block by Suzanne McNeill.  I alternated solid  blocks with patchwork blocks.    I used Moda’s Flirt and Moda Bella Solid in Snow for the blocks.  The borders are Moda Avalon which matched the Flirt colors really well.

I gave it to my daughter Jennifer last spring before I had a blog so I asked her to send a few photos.  I cross grid quilted the main part of the quilt and did a cable pattern in the border.

This is the first larger quilt I quilted with my Janome.  I used a template with a cable pattern for the border.   Here’s a few close-ups of the cable border on the back of the quilt.

Stay tuned for the rest of 2014 in the rearview mirror  …
