Mystery Quilt: Legend of the Spinning Top

I took a Mystery Quilt class at Pappy’s in Maryville TN ( ) last year with Sue Jones as the teacher.    Sue is my favorite quilting instructor.   If you have never heard of a mystery quilt, it’s a fun way to make a quilt where the quilt pattern isn’t  revealed until the end.

I was to choose one fabric and of course I chose Moda from the line Bobbins and Bits. Sue chose the rest of the fabric before hand and even cut it out.  What a treat, all I had to do was show up and sew.

She  handed out one “clue” at a time, for example clue 1:

I got to see the fabric choices as they appeared in the clues.
I spent the whole day sewing and left the class with a mostly completed quilt top.
The Solution:

I bought enough matching fabric to make a set of pillowcases.

Another quilt sent off to Cyndi Herrmann.  Look at the matching green thread she used.

Can’t wait, my friend Karen and I are taking another class with Sue next week.   It’s not a mystery class though.
